Different Options for Replacement Windows

Posted in: Replacement Windows

Different Options for Replacement WindowsOne common question homeowners have is what different types of replacement windows are available for your Mansfield home? Some people already have in mind the type of window they want for their home while others remain unsure. So one of the best ways to make this important decision is to know the choices you have.

Double Hung Windows

For the longest time, single hung windows were the only option; a window in which the top sash was fixed and the bottom one would slide to adjust from open to closed. With a double hung window, both the top and bottom sash are able to move up and down. Plus, both sashes on this style of window tilt in which makes it that much easier for cleaning purposes.

Bay Windows

Both bay windows and bow windows protrude from the wall but they each have their own unique features. A bay window has the general structure of a picture window with two other windows for a total of three openings. Also, a bay window is usually more angular of a structure. Plus, this style of window usually allows more space from the interior side of the structure.

Bow Windows

As opposed to the three openings of a bay window, the bow window usually has usually four or five. Also, the bow window is more curved than the angular look of the bay window. Bow windows are also known for also allowing in more light.

Garden Windows

A garden window also protrudes and is often referred to as a smaller version of a bay window. Think of the box type window often seen in kitchens that can be used for growing plants, herbs or just to allow in more light. The design is intended to be like a greenhouse in order to create an environment that encourages growth.

Slider Windows

Instead of operating a window by sliding the bottom half up or down, a slider window is used by sliding one half to the right and left. This is a matter of preference but also the location of the placement. Smaller versions are ideal for bathrooms and larger versions are popular for bedrooms and living rooms.
